Domodedovo DME: check-in and the way into Moscow
Shared check-in does not mean the same departure area. Plan registration, connections and the whole journey from Domodedovo to your accommodation.
In Domodedovo, the place where you check in is not necessarily the area from which you depart. This distinction matters more than an old instruction that simply says “domestic terminal” or “international terminal”. First confirm DME on your booking, then follow the current route for your flight.
The airport announced common check-in in T2 for domestic and international flights. International services use T2; domestic services use gallery D in T1. Aeroexpress’s October update confirms the common check-in arrangement. The practical distinction: check-in is not your boarding gate. Follow the flight display and staff directions after checking in. DME’s announcement.
When meeting someone, send the flight number and agree on a precise public meeting point. For departure, save the airline’s check-in, bag-drop and boarding deadlines. A terminal label is not enough to calculate how much time you need.
Where flights go: check the route, not a regional label
The current airport board includes S7 Airlines and Ural Airlines, with examples such as Kemerovo and Omsk domestically, and Urgench and Samarkand internationally. These are examples, not a permanent destination list. DME is not assigned an exclusive region: choose by airline, date and flight.
Do not assume that a familiar airline always uses the same Moscow airport. Check both flight segments separately if you are connecting.

The train: plan beyond Paveletsky
Aeroexpress links DME with Paveletsky railway station, with an interchange at Verkhnie Kotly for the Moscow Central Circle. Check your date and train in the operator’s route information. The station in Domodedovo town is not the airport station.
A rail journey can simplify the first leg, but the real destination is your accommodation. Compare the onward metro journey, walking and luggage handling before choosing where to leave the train. Our Moscow metro and city transport guide explains that next step. Check the airport-train fare separately; do not assume an ordinary metro ticket covers it.
The bus: Domodedovskaya is not the airport
Express bus 1185 connects DME with Domodedovskaya metro station. The operator’s 2 October notice puts the T1 stop near exit 3, keeps the T2 stop at exit 9 and identifies metro exit 10. Use this updated stop information, rather than an older diagram.
This is a bus-and-metro journey, not a metro station inside the airport. Check operating hours and the fare before leaving. Allow for road traffic and the walk between the bus and metro; a quoted vehicle journey time is not your complete trip.
Taxi and connections: agree on the whole journey
A prearranged road transfer may suit heavy luggage or a late arrival. Confirm the pickup point, destination address, total price and any waiting charges with the provider before accepting the ride. Save the accommodation entrance as well as its name.
For a connecting flight, ask the airline where your bag is tagged to, whether you must collect it, and what check-in and document checks apply. Separate tickets do not automatically create a protected connection. If the onward airport code is SVO, VKO or ZIA, you need an airport-to-airport journey, not a terminal transfer.
If continuing by rail, check the actual departure station: arrival at Paveletsky does not mean every long-distance train leaves there. See Moscow railway stations and departures.
Have an offline plan before you arrive
Save your booking, address and chosen route offline. A written address in Cyrillic can also help with a pickup. Keep enough battery for the final leg, and do not make the whole plan depend on obtaining airport Wi-Fi immediately.
If considering our eSIM service blueSIM, confirm current Russia availability, phone compatibility and package activation conditions before purchasing. Installing a profile requires an existing internet connection. This is not a promise of immediate connectivity after landing.
The useful order
Confirm the airport and flight; distinguish check-in from the departure area; choose transport all the way to your address; save a backup route. Once the journey is settled, our first guide to Moscow helps you plan the city itself.
