Vnukovo VKO: Terminal A and the metro into Moscow

Vnukovo has its own metro station. Plan the terminal, rail options and the whole journey to your accommodation.

Vnukovo VKO: Terminal A and the metro into Moscow

A metro connection changes the first decision at Vnukovo. You do not have to begin by finding a bus to a distant station: the airport has its own metro stop. But a convenient first leg is not the same as a complete journey. Before choosing transport, save your accommodation address and work backwards from its nearest useful station.

First confirm VKO on your booking. Moscow’s airports are not interchangeable; our overview of Moscow airports helps you compare them.

Terminal A: follow your flight, not an old terminal label

Terminal A handles domestic and international services. Its departure and check-in area is on level 2 (the upper departure level), according to the airport’s passenger transport information. Use the current flight display and terminal map to find your counter and gate.

Do not select a terminal solely from a remembered “domestic versus international” rule. Save the airline’s check-in, bag-drop and boarding deadlines separately. Reaching the building is not the same as being ready to board.

Where it connects: examples, not assigned regions

VKO does not have exclusive responsibility for a region. Utair’s Vnukovo route page includes Surgut and Tyumen. Internationally, Antalya and Istanbul were among the airport’s leading destinations in summer 2026, alongside Dalaman, Yerevan and Hurghada, according to its summer traffic summary.

These examples explain the airport’s role, not what is guaranteed to fly on your date. Confirm the operating airline, airport code and flight status for each segment of your booking.

Metro: choose Aeroport Vnukovo, then the whole route

Aeroport Vnukovo, on the Solntsevskaya line, connects to Terminal A by an underground passage. The Moscow transport authority confirms this connection. Save the station name as «Аэропорт Внуково» too.

Count transfers, walking and the final exit—not just time on a train. Check service hours and the current ticket before departing. For the wider network and ticket choices, use our Moscow metro and city transport guide. If you need a step-free route, check lifts and accessibility for every interchange, not only the airport station.

The railway alternative: check the operator

Aeroexpress stopped operating the Kievsky–Vnukovo route on 1 August 2024, handing it to CPPK. Its handover notice explains the change. Do not buy an Aeroexpress ticket for another Moscow airport and assume it covers VKO.

CPPK’s launch notice identifies Kievsky and the Aminyevskaya stop. Look up the date-specific departure and fare with CPPK before relying on this option. Train waiting time matters as much as the ride; compare the full journey with metro. If continuing by long-distance rail, our Moscow railway station guide helps you identify the actual departure station.

A road transfer or a connecting flight

A prearranged taxi may suit heavy luggage or an arrival outside your chosen rail service’s hours. Agree on the public pickup point, destination, total price and waiting charges before accepting. Give the driver your flight number rather than estimating when you will reach the exit.

If your next flight uses SVO, DME or ZIA, that is an airport-to-airport journey, not a terminal change. Ask the airline whether your baggage must be collected and what check-in and document checks remain. Separate tickets do not automatically provide a protected connection. Plan for queues and road traffic; do not turn a map estimate into a guaranteed connection time.

Keep the route available without a connection

Save your booking, address, route and backup pickup details offline. If considering our eSIM service blueSIM, confirm current Russia availability, device compatibility and activation conditions before purchasing. Profile installation needs an existing internet connection. Do not make arrival transport depend on airport Wi-Fi or instant mobile activation.

Bellboy’s practical order: confirm VKO and your flight; locate the correct departure or arrival area; compare metro, railway and road options all the way to your address; save one backup. The simplest route is the one you can actually follow with your luggage.
