AntalyaKart: buying, topping up and paying fares

Prepare AntalyaKart for journeys around Antalya. Check where to buy, confirm top-ups and understand bank-card payment and transfers.

AntalyaKart: buying, topping up and paying fares

For regular bus and tram journeys in Antalya, an ordinary rechargeable AntalyaKart is useful. For occasional trips, check contactless bank-card payment, but its fare differs and transfer rights are not included. Choose a payment method before estimating the balance for your plans.

Different card types

The ordinary Tam Kart is not assigned to one person. The operator allows one or several passengers to use it. A personal card is different: another person cannot borrow your concession. Check the type, not just the design.

When paying for a group with an ordinary card, confirm every fare. A second tap for another passenger can remove transfer entitlement. Separate cards are practical for frequent transfers, but they are not compulsory for every visitor.

Buying and checking the location

Use official centres, authorised sellers or machines that sell cards; a top-up machine does not necessarily issue a new card. Check the operator’s current locations and availability. At Antalya Airport, identify your terminal and the way to the chosen point rather than assuming a working machine at every exit.

An operator notice published on 12 October says the Olbia centre stopped operating on 9 October 2026. An older opening announcement does not confirm current operation. Do not travel there using an old saved address. The centre directory still includes Olbia; follow the newer closure notice.

The card and fare are separate costs

Official pages checked on 13 October 2026 list the ordinary card at 100 TL, a full fare at 42 TL and contactless bank-card payment at 50 TL. These are dated figures, not a permanent price promise. Buying the card is not the same as loading travel credit.

Concessions, particular lines and transfers have conditions. Do not assume the next boarding is free simply because it follows soon. Bank-card payment does not include concession or transfer rights; compare the complete journey.

Top up without paying twice

  1. Check your actual card number and amount.
  2. Choose an official machine, point or online service.
  3. Review the total and any fee before confirming.
  4. Save the confirmation and wait for the result.
  5. After an online top-up, write the amount to the card as instructed and check the balance.

The official instructions connect online loading with tapping at a validator; where the relevant menu exists, an “online dolum” action is required. A bank debit and credit written to the transport card are separate stages. Check status and instructions before paying again.

The FAQ says authorised dealers accept cash top-ups without commission. That does not mean every online channel or your bank must be free. Do not apply one channel’s rule to all others.

Bank cards and phones

The operator supports contactless bank cards. Present one card separately from the wallet, wait for successful payment and remove it. A foreign card is not guaranteed to work; shop acceptance does not prove transport compatibility. Have another permitted payment option ready.

An app for checking balance does not turn every phone into a ticket. The mobile NFC card is a separate option with device and setup requirements. Check your phone with the operator before relying on it instead of a physical card.

If payment fails

Read the message and check balance, top-up status and card type. Do not tap repeatedly without understanding the result. If the problem persists, take the card and transaction confirmation to an operating centre. Documents and recovery depend on the card type.

For online loading and transport apps, you can prepare a blueSIM eSIM before travelling. Check compatibility, coverage and plan terms and install with stable internet. A data plan does not replace access to the number receiving bank verification messages. Save addresses and your return route offline.

Common questions

Does everyone need a separate card?

Not always: an ordinary Tam Kart can be shared. Separate cards help with transfers; personal concessions do not extend to the group.

Does a child need a card?

Check the operator’s age and eligibility rules for your situation. Do not assume entitlement from age or reading language alone.

Will leftover money be refunded after the holiday?

Do not budget for an automatic refund. Ask about your card’s rules and avoid loading a large amount unnecessarily.

Bellboy’s advice

Start with a modest balance for a clear route. Check successful payment and transfer conditions, then top up as needed. Keep confirmations until the trip ends.
