Where to stay in Antalya: Kaleiçi, Konyaaltı or Lara
Compare Kaleiçi, the centre, Konyaaltı and Lara/Kundu. Check beach access, transport and the exact accommodation address before booking.
“300 metres from the sea” does not always mean a short walk to a beach. In Antalya, choose the kind of day you want, then an area and exact address: Kaleiçi for the old town, central streets for a city stay, Konyaaltı for beach and promenade, and Lara or Kundu for different stays to the east.
These are not four equivalent administrative districts. Kaleiçi is the historic quarter in the centre; Muratpaşa is a large city district covering central streets and parts of the urban coast. “Lara” in a listing can also mean different locations. Check the address, not just the booking filter.
Which area to consider first
Two or three days of history and walking: Kaleiçi or somewhere nearby, with a check for night noise.
City plans without a car: central streets near the stop you need.
Sea, walks and an independent stay: a part of Konyaaltı with a practical route to the beach.
A holiday mainly at the hotel: a beach resort in the Lara/Kundu area, after checking the rate’s inclusions.
No option suits everyone. Families may prioritise access to the water and a route with a pushchair or stroller; evening walkers need a way home. For limited mobility, check the entire route to the room.
Kaleiçi: old town and smaller hotels
GoTürkiye describes Kaleiçi as a historic quarter with narrow streets, the old harbour and accommodation in former mansions. It can work well for a short stay built around walks, cafés and exploring the city.
Check the actual building: luggage drop-off, distance to the entrance, steps, lift or elevator and access to your floor. An old house is neither automatically inconvenient nor guaranteed accessible. Ask for photographs of the entrance and route to your room.
For quieter sleep, read recent reviews about your side of the building, bars, music and traffic. “Quiet area” does not replace checking the room. For a late flight, agree check-in arrangements and a meeting point with the property.
Mermerli beach is beside the harbour and appears on the municipal website. It is not a long open beachfront outside every Kaleiçi hotel. Confirm access, steps, hours and current conditions for the bathing spot you choose.

The centre and Muratpaşa: choose the right streets
“Centre” is a useful orientation, not a destination. Locate your daily plans on the map: work, a meeting, a stop, the old town or a shop. A room near one of these can be more practical than a distant sea view.
Compare the walk to a stop, the evening return and connections. The name Muratpaşa does not put you next to every attraction. Check current public-transport routes and departures with Antalyakart.
On a high coastline, a sea view may come without direct access to the water. Find the nearest suitable bathing spot, how to reach it and whether you need transport.
Konyaaltı: beach and city life
Konyaaltı lies west of the centre. The municipality describes its beach as mostly pebbles with some sandy sections. The promenade makes it possible to combine walking and the sea; the district also extends beyond the waterfront.
Mark a beach entrance, then map the walk from your accommodation’s door. Check road crossings, distance and shade. Two addresses listed as “Konyaaltı” can produce very different daily journeys.
Pebbles may be a reason to pack water shoes. With children, assess water entry, waves and adult supervision separately: an area name does not establish a safe or gently sloping seabed. For a longer stay, confirm a kitchen, laundry, air conditioning and noise in the specific apartment.
Lara and Kundu: three different stays
“Lara” can conceal the difference between the urban coast, the sandy beach and resorts further east.
Urban Lara: cafés, parks and city life. On sections of high coastline, water access may be through separate beaches or platforms. Muratpaşa Municipality describes this coastal area separately.
Lara beach: the sandy coast east of the centre, listed by GoTürkiye. Check the route from your hotel, distance and beach conditions.
Lara/Kundu in resort offers: larger complexes for a hotel-centred holiday. Confirm the address, hotel beach, operating season and meal plan.
If you want to walk through Kaleiçi every evening, include outward and return journeys in your plans and budget. Being near the airport does not guarantee a quick transfer either: address, terminal, traffic and route matter.
Check these before booking
Address and entrance: the map pin matches the actual entrance, and the route to the room is clear.
Three daily routes: beach, transport stop and shop; use walking routes, not straight-line distance.
Shore: sand, pebbles, platform or cliff; confirm stairs, crossings and access.
Room: floor, lift or elevator, air conditioning, position and recent noise reviews.
Meals and beach: what your rate includes, what costs extra and what operates on your dates. “All-inclusive” packages can differ.
Price: read the total, currency, extra charges, deposit and cancellation conditions before paying.
Arrival: agree late check-in, contact and drop-off point.
Specific needs: ask the property to confirm stroller access, accessibility, a cot or crib, or a kitchen.
Save the address and routes offline. You can arrange a travel eSIM in advance, such as blueSIM, if your phone is compatible. Check Türkiye coverage, validity, activation and the internet needed for installation in the package terms.
Common questions
Where should I stay on a first visit without a car?
For walking, start with Kaleiçi and central streets; for the sea, look at Konyaaltı addresses near a beach entrance and transport. Confirm the choice with an actual route, not just the area name.
Does Lara always mean sand outside the hotel?
No. Urban Lara, Lara beach and Kundu resorts offer different stays. You need the exact address and confirmed beach access.
Which area works for a family?
Compare Konyaaltı addresses and Lara/Kundu beach hotels, but decide by water entry, room access, meals and your routine. Kaleiçi can also work if the particular accommodation suits your family.
Bellboy’s advice: choose an area for your everyday plans, then check three routes and the accommodation entrance. A clear way to the places you need is more useful than “sea nearby”.
