Meet MULTILOCAL: a life between countries

For people with more than one home. MULTILOCAL brings personal stories and practical questions of life between countries together.

Meet MULTILOCAL: a life between countries

Today I would like to introduce a new direction at Bellboy.run: MULTILOCAL.

It is a magazine for people whose lives can no longer be associated with just one city or one country. To explain the idea, I decided to start with a short interview.

Bellboy, who is MULTILOCAL for?

For those who have more than one home.

For people living between Istanbul and Berlin, Antalya and Moscow, Dubai and London. For international families, entrepreneurs, remote professionals, property owners and anyone who spends the year in several countries.

These people are often called expats or digital nomads. But I think those definitions have become too narrow. Someone in MULTILOCAL is not simply travelling, and does not necessarily leave their home country forever. They learn to feel that they belong in several places at once.

What will the magazine cover?

Real life between countries.

We will discuss choosing a city, moving and returning, renting and buying property, schools, healthcare, banks, taxes, insurance and residence permits.

We will compare countries and cities not only by living costs or weather, but also by how easy it is to feel at home, find a familiar social circle, choose a school for the children, start a business and organise everyday life.

A person sorts mail and keys at a table in a new apartment.
Life between countries is built from everyday actions: understanding a letter, saving an address, noting a deadline and making a new rule part of a familiar day.

International families, relationships between cultures, work without a fixed address and the personal habits of people who have learned to live in several worlds will have a place of their own.

Will this be another expat handbook?

No. Practical information matters, but MULTILOCAL begins with a person, not with documents and instructions.

At its heart will be interviews with people who actually live between countries. I want to ask simple but important questions: why they chose these places, what proved most difficult, where they feel at home and what they would tell someone preparing to take the first step.

These will be first-person conversations, without perfect pictures or universal recipes. The same city can become a new home for one person and remain just a beautiful stop for another.

So readers will discover personal experience as well as facts?

Exactly.

Official rules can be found on government websites. But they rarely describe what it feels like to open a bank account abroad for the first time, choose a school for your child, find a family doctor, get used to a new language or explain to relatives where your real home is now.

MULTILOCAL will bring together two sides of life: checked practical information and the honest experiences of people who have already followed that path.

Will the information be updated?

Of course.

Entry rules, residence permits, banking, taxation and renting change. We will regularly return to published material, check whether it is still current and add new details.

Alongside personal stories, there will be specialist comments, useful addresses, links and explanations without complicated official language. Readers should be able not only to draw inspiration from someone else's experience, but also to use what they learn in their own lives.

What will each new edition look like?

Like a new encounter.

A new person, a new city and a new story of life between countries. Sometimes we will talk about two homes; sometimes about international business, family, moving or returning. Places and people will change, but the main question will stay the same:

How do you build one fulfilling life when it takes place in several countries?

Everyone will have their own answer. Those are the answers I want to collect for you in MULTILOCAL.

MULTILOCAL
Several countries. One life.
