Düden waterfalls in Antalya: which one and how to get there
Upper Düden is a green park walk; Lower Düden meets the sea. Choose the right location, plan transport and check admission before travelling.
Düden in Antalya means two different destinations and two different experiences. Choose Upper Düden for a green park and a walk near water, or Lower Düden for a coastal view where the river falls into the sea. Select the place before planning transport: “Düden” alone is not a precise destination for a map or driver.
Upper Düden: a park walk in Kepez
Yukarı Düden Şelalesi is in Kepez and is also known as Düdenbaşı. The official cultural portal gives Düdenbaşı Mahallesi, 21. Cadde as its address. This inland stop should not be confused with the coastal Düden Park (Culture Portal: Upper Düden).
Allow time for the park and water rather than a single photograph. GoTürkiye describes a cave in the Upper Düden area; confirm access to particular viewing or cave sections for your visit date. A cave appearing in a guide does not establish that every passage is currently open (GoTürkiye: Mediterranean nature).
For planning, allow roughly an hour and a half to two hours on site, plus travel and the entrance queue. This is an editorial estimate, not an official visit duration. Shade does not guarantee cool conditions on a hot day: plan water, breaks and footwear with grip.
Lower Düden: the river reaches the sea
Aşağı Düden Şelalesi, also called Karpuzkaldıran, is in Muratpaşa towards Lara. Here the river drops into the sea from a coastal ledge of around 40 metres. The official portal gives Çağlayan, Lara Caddesi No:457; match the address and photographs to the correct map point (Culture Portal: Lower Düden).
The visit uses the coastal park and designated viewing areas, making it a practical shorter seaside stop. Do not seek an improvised descent to the base: stay on open paths behind barriers. Choose an accessible viewing point for photographs rather than bypassing a closure.
Save the exact place name and stay on the designated walkway. AI-generated illustration; it does not confirm the current platform condition or water flow.
Admission and payment: confirm the details
Allow for an entrance cost at Upper Düden. AntalyaKart’s announcement dated 14 August 2026 confirms payment at new entrance turnstiles under an Antalya Ulaşım–ANSET agreement. It gives no current price, discount table or rules for other payment methods (AntalyaKart entrance-payment announcement).
Before leaving, ask about your party’s price, opening and last-entry times, open sections and payment options. Do not automatically apply a bus fare or AntalyaKart concession to park admission; Müzekart acceptance needs separate confirmation. A coastal view of Lower Düden and a private excursion ticket are different things: establish which service you are being charged for.
Reach the right waterfall
Compare city bus, taxi and car hire from your accommodation. “From the centre” is too vague: Kaleiçi, Konyaaltı and Lara create different starting points. Do not expect the same stop or bus for both waterfalls.
For a bus, check the boarding stop, direction, changes, walking section and return service on the day. Use a transport app and the route tools on AntalyaKart’s official website. A line number from an old guide is not a current route check (official AntalyaKart website).
Show the driver your saved map point, full Turkish name and district. For a car, check parking and the last walk separately; a space by the entrance is not guaranteed. Save your accommodation address and return arrangements before setting off.
Can you visit both in one day?
One possible plan is Upper Düden in the morning, lunch and a break, then Lower Düden and a coastal walk. Leave spare time between districts; bus changes can make the day considerably longer. Do not add a third distant attraction simply because it looks close on an overview map.
With limited time, choose one. Upper suits a green walk; Lower suits a sea view. For a stroller or reduced mobility, ask about steps, surfaces and open paths beforehand rather than assuming every viewpoint is accessible. Keep children close near water, cliffs and wet ground.
The boat view is a separate trip
The official cultural portal mentions boat excursions near Lower Düden. Before paying, check that your chosen trip includes it, the duration, boarding point and cancellation conditions. Passing close depends on sea conditions, weather and the crew’s decision; a close approach is not guaranteed (Culture Portal: Lower Düden).
Do not make swimming by the cascade or beneath the cliffs an expected part of the visit. If you do not want to depend on a sea excursion, choose a shore view and check access to its platform.
Save both destinations separately as Yukarı and Aşağı, and compare photographs before ordering transport. Keep your basic route and hotel address offline. Mobile data helps check buses and reach your driver; choose an eSIM through blueSIM and install it ahead of travel after checking compatibility and plan terms.
A good Düden visit starts with the correct destination, a clear return journey and spare time. The two settings offer different experiences; you do not have to visit both just to tick a box.
Admission, opening hours, path access and transport change. Check before travelling; the appearance of the waterfall depends on conditions and water flow.
